Bio

Sara Gui Cook is a cellist and Alexander Technique teacher based out of Glasgow, Scotland. She is finishing her MA in Chamber Music and MMus in Cello Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she is studying with Alison Wells. In the Spring of 2018, Sara graduated with her Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with Rhonda Rider. Committed to sharing her knowledge and love of chamber music, Sara has been mentoring younger chamber groups at the RCS for the past two years.

She was awarded the Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music at the RCS in the Spring of 2020. She also placed 1st in the Mabel Glover String Quartet Competition at the RCS in the spring of 2020 and received Highly Commended (2nd Prize) in the Governors Chamber Music Competition at the RCS in 2019. Sara has had the opportunity to take part in workshops with the RSNO, Manchester Collective, and the Brodsky Quartet.

Sara became a certified Alexander Technique teacher in the Spring of 2018. She graduated from Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s 1,600 hour Alexander Technique Teacher Training Course. Since Sara’s training, she has taught students privately both in person and online. In addition to her private teaching, she has taught seminars with the Boston Conservatory at Berklee instrumental department and Point CounterPoint’s adult workshops. Sara enjoys spending her free time baking and hiking in the mountains and hills of Scotland.
